Today was another great day for the Simpson team! We started off early with a time of devotion led by team member Francine, who led us through a reflection on Psalm 23. Right after that, we set to work to prepare for our second day of nursing seminars. This morning we hosted 65 students and nurses from KIMS Nursing College and from a nearby mission hospital. KIMS Konaseema Institute of medical science is the largest medical school in the region that trains doctors and nurses. These people came from the nurses section of the teaching hospital. The students were so excited that we came all the way from America to share about obstetrics with them, and the seasoned nurses enjoyed our skit. We loved chatting with them afterwards and learning more about nursing in India.

Later this afternoon, we hosted two back to back seminars for a wide mixture of people, ranging from nurses to local women to teachers from Riverside School. It was a great opportunity to share with them simple ways to care for pregnant women before, during, and after birth. We have thoroughly enjoyed interacting with such a wide variety of people and sharing what we know about the subjects of pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Each of us has felt so welcomed by the Indian people and have been touched by their warmth!

Today there were two C-sections performed at Subbamma Hospital. Several students from Azusa’s team along with several students from Simpson’s team participated in watching the surgery and learning from Dr. Raju. Tomorrow we look forward to hosting more students from KIMS Nursing College who will be participating in our nursing seminars!
