What an incredible day for the Simpson team! We started the morning off with a devotion led by Ashleigh on James 3, in which she spoke of the power of our speech for either good or bad. It was a great reminder that we can use our words to tear people down or to build them up and encourage them!

After devotions, the Simpson team, Dr. Raju, Dr. Anusha, Dr. Harinder, and Dr. Adil took a bus ride out to the fishermen’s village. We were able to serve 150 of the townspeople through health screenings while the Subbamma Christian Hospital dentists provided check-ups and dental care. We were so excited to distribute toothbrush/toothpaste kits that were generously donated to us by Colgate. It was a privilege to provide healthcare to the people of the village and we can’t wait for more chances to reach out to them!
Later in the afternoon, the Simpson team joined the Azusa Pacific team and took a trip out to the beach. We first stopped at the Antervedhi Lighthouse, a one hundred year old lighthouse looking out over the Bay of Bengal. We then headed down to the beach and had a great time dipping our feet in the very warm Indian Ocean, taking lots of photos, and playing soccer while the waves crashed around our feet. It was such a refreshing time of fun and fellowship for all of us!
After the beach, we took a short ride over to a Hindu temple where we were able to learn more about the religion and the history of the temple itself, as parts of it are quite old and pre-date Jesus Christ’s time on Earth. After that, both teams joined in praise songs to the Lord on our drive back home. All in all, it was an awesome day and we are excited to see what tomorrow brings as we plan to visit KIMS Nursing School in the afternoon.
